Today, Joe Biden tried to leverage public fear in order to get Congress to pass another covid funding bill, warning the nation,
“If we need a different vaccine for the future to combat a new variant, we are not going to have enough money to purchase it.”
Cue confusion and outrage from all the Americans who actually thought the vaccines were really “free,” and are now realizing that the government was just using the American people’s money to buy the vaccine, and then indiscriminately forcing the vaccine on those same people at no immediate transactional cost (“free”), but which is paid through historic inflation that touches every aspect of life because the government spent money they didn’t have.
I think he wanted this to sort of be emotionally manipulative by making people fearful and therefore more compliant. But honestly, it doesn’t really come through that way.
You see, we didn’t have the money to purchase hundreds of millions of doses of the current vaccines, either. But that didn’t stop the government from “printing” money to spend on them. And that’s exactly what this funding bill would be doing–green-lighting the electronic printing of more money to spend on a pandemic that is over, which will further decrease the value of the dollar and increase the prices of everything the American people want and need.
And at this point, anyone who wants it has gotten it. If it worked the way we were promised it would, then we wouldn’t need bi-annual boosters that are handed out with free COVID testing kits for when you still get COVID.
To be honest, there are a lot of people who are actually very happy to hear that the government won’t be able to spend their hard earned money on a vaccine they don’t want to be forced to take for a virus they aren’t afraid of.
This really isn’t the emotionally manipulative statement he thinks it is. In fact, a lot of people are just hoping it ends up being true.
